PDIP 24 - PDAO Merch Capsule Development

PDIP 24 - PDAO Merch Capsule Development
Author: UselessCrypto69 and Tricky
Supported: Fool

Summary

This proposal requests $3,000 USD to develop an initial merchandise capsule for ParagonsDAO in-line with their current branding and that can be utilized in future community initiatives.

Abstract

The initial merchandise capsule will be sourced from Printful, a leading Print On Demand (POD) supplier and drop-shipper. Their catalogue includes but is not limited to apparel from hoodies, polos, tees, caps, packs for your back and bum/fanny, pins, patches, stickers, mouse pads, phone cases. The list goes on. POD negates the risk of buying and holding inventory and facilitates distribution.

A select group from ParagonsDAO core team (Reviewers) and Paragons council will review and approve all steps involved with the initial merchandise capsule development process including the designs, the initial samples, second round iteration and the final production of apparel.

Motivation

We already have PDIP 15 for building out an ecommerce storefront and can be implemented if PDIP 24 - PDAO Merch Capsule Development is approved, successful and is still desired by ParagonsDAO or the Web 3 Community.

PDIP 24 will be focussing only on designing and developing an initial PDAO branded merchandise capsule.

Specification

Overview

ParagonsDAO designer Fool will complete the designs for an initial merchandise capsule consisting of a hat, shirt, hoodie, x-body bag, tote bag, gaming mouse mat, and sticker(s) .

Once the designs have been approved by the Paragons Council, Useless and Tricky will organize 3 of each of the approved apparel items in the initial merchandise capsule to be produced. The initial samples will be sent to the reviewers for testing and feedback.

After feedback has been received on the initial samples and any changes have been implemented to the apparel items and approved by the Paragons Council, Useless and Tricky will organize 3 of each of the approved apparel items from the second round iteration to be produced. The samples will be sent to the reviewers for testing and feedback.

After feedback has been received on the second round iteration samples and any changes have been implemented to the apparel items and approved by the Paragons Council, Useless and Tricky will organize 3 of each of these approved apparel items to be produced for the final production of apparel. These will be sent to the reviewers for final comments. Once approved it will be available for ParagonsDAO to order when required.

Rationale

Print-on-demand is a business model where products are produced only when an order is received. This eliminates the need for inventory management and upfront costs. Media include all-over print, direct-to-garment printing, and embroidery. POD vendors like Printful are motivated to provide seamless integrations with Shopify to service merchants expediently. They provide an easy-to-use interface for design and specifications.

Funding

Funds would cover the following:

  • Product ideation and design:
    • Initial product line-up recommendation and design;
    • Second round of iteration (change designs, add/remove product);
    • Final production for stakeholder review;
  • Printful pricing per round of iteration $1,000.
  • To successfully complete all iterations (Initial sample, second round iteration and Final production) approximately $3,000 funding is required.
  • It is expected each round of iterations will decrease in costs and not the full $3,000 will be used.

Target Goal/Deliverables

To produce a Merch Capsule Line that can be used for future community initiatives and to be the stepping stone to an online merch store, as detailed in PDIP 15.
